For new studies, sites receive access to the Scout Portal, where they can review and approve patient travel and reimbursement requests.
Participants receive a welcome email or letter with step-by-step instructions to set up their preferred payment method—direct deposit, prepaid debit card, digital wallet, or check—and to submit reimbursement requests for travel or other approved expenses.
Can I change my preferred payment method?
Yes. If you’d like to change how you receive your clinical trial payments (for example, from direct deposit to a prepaid debit card) just contact the Scout support team. We’ll verify your information and update your payment method quickly, with no delay to your next reimbursement.
I don't have a bank account. Can I still get paid?
Yes. You can still receive payments through a prepaid debit card or digital wallet. These options don’t require a bank account and still provide fast, secure access to your clinical trial payments. You’ll select your preferred method during setup.
Is there a fee to receive payments through Scout?
No. Participants do not pay any fees to receive reimbursements or travel payments through Scout. All services are fully covered by your study sponsor.
How does Scout help with tax documentation?
Scout provides required tax forms for payments made during your clinical trial, following regulations in your country. For U.S. participants, that typically includes IRS Form 1099 if payments meet reporting thresholds. We’ll send documents securely so you can include them in your annual tax filing. If you have questions, our support team can explain what’s provided—though we don’t offer tax advice.
Do I need to contact my site to receive payments?
No. Once your site confirms the visit details, Scout processes your payment directly. You don’t need to follow up or request anything. We take care of it from there.
