Scout Virtual Card FAQ
Using the Scout Virtual Card
How the Scout Virtual Prepaid Card Works
What is the Scout Virtual Card?
The Scout Virtual Card is a promotional Mastercard Prepaid Virtual Card. It is not a gift card. Cardholders can use it anywhere Debit Mastercard is accepted, subject to any program-specific restrictions.
How do I redeem and activate my card?
Scout sends cardholders an email with registration instructions, a link to redeem the card, and a redemption code.
- Open the redemption link in the Scout email. To avoid fraudulent sites, use the link provided rather than searching for the site online.
- Enter the redemption code.
- Complete the online registration and accept the Cardholder Agreement and E-Sign Agreement.
- Activate the card.
How do I retrieve my card details for future use?
During first-time retrieval, the cardholder can view the card number, expiration date, and CVV.
- Select Redeem Virtual Card in the Scout email or copy and paste the link into a browser.
- A verification code is sent to the cardholder.
- Enter the code and complete the requested information.
- The card details appear on screen.
The retrieval code works once. The retrieval link remains valid until it is claimed. Cardholders should save their card details after retrieval. Balance, transaction history, and other account information can be viewed later at www.MyPrepaidCenter.com or in the My Card Wallet app.
How do I use the Scout Virtual Card?
Online purchases. Enter your card details in the payment section at checkout.
In-store purchases. Add your card to a mobile wallet before checkout.
- Download the My Card Wallet app from the mobile app store.
- Access the card through the website printed on the card collateral, then select Add to Wallet.
- Use the card at checkout like any other mobile-wallet card.
- My Card Wallet is compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay on both iOS and Android.
Card Access and Account Questions
How do I check the remaining balance?
You can view transactions and remaining funds in the My Card Wallet app, at www.MyPrepaidCenter.com, or contact Mastercard Customer Service, 888-371-2109.
How long are the retrieval link and verification code valid?
The retrieval link remains valid until it is claimed. There is no separate fixed expiration window. The retrieval code works once.
Can I retrieve my card details again or use another device?
The retrieval code works only once. Save the card details after claiming the card. For ongoing or multi-device access, the cardholder can download the My Card Wallet app on another device and log in using the card information.
Does the card expire, and what happens to unused funds?
The card is valid for one year. If funds remain after expiration, a $3.95 monthly maintenance fee is charged. After expiration, the cardholder must contact Mastercard Customer Service, 888-371-2109, to access any remaining balance.
Can the card be used internationally?
Domestic and international use are supported. A 2% foreign transaction fee applies to purchases made in a foreign currency or country. The Scout Virtual Card is issued in USD. If a reimbursement is submitted in another currency, the amount is converted and issued on a USD-denominated card. Scout can add 2% to the reimbursement amount to offset the foreign transaction fee.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
I didn't get the original Scout email.
If the cardholder did not receive the original Scout email with the redemption link and code, contact Scout, info@scoutlcinical.com, immediately to confirm the email address on file.
Card details or the access email did not appear after redemption
Make sure the email didn't go to spam and that the email address matches the address used to redeem the card. If details or email are still missing:
-
Go to www.MyPrepaidCenter.com and select Resend Your Virtual Link.
-
Enter the correct original email address, then check the inbox for a new access link.
If you still does not receive the email, escalate to Scout. The redemption may not have completed on the platform side.
My card was declined at checkout.
Insufficient funds are the most common cause. Check the remaining balance. If the balance appears sufficient, contact Mastercard Customer Service, 888-371-2109, or Scout.
My card was lost or stolen, or I have an unauthorized transaction.
Contact Scout or Mastercard Customer Service, 888-371-2109, immediately.
Mastercard Zero Liability protection applies only if the card is registered. Unauthorized transactions must be reported within 60 days. A reissued card can take up to 30 days to process.
I need to change my email address on file.
Email addresses can be updated for future cards. For a current card, contact Scout or Mastercard Customer Service, 888-371-2109, before making changes. Access may be limited because verification codes are often sent to the original email address on file.
